The CAL is being led by Edie Eckman and the hexagon motif is from her book: Beyond the Square Crochet Motifs Edie provides a link to the instructions for crocheting the motif.
I am using Lion Brand’s Vanna’s Choice in the colors of Dusty Blue, Taupe, Linen, Silver Blue, and Chocolate - the afghan is for my husband who chose the colors. I may add in some Toffee and Vanna’s Choice Baby in Sweet Pea, because I want to add some sparks of color to the afghan, LOL. This hexagon motif is quick and fun to crochet.
I plan on making a "feminine" version for myself! It is also fun to play with color combinations:)

I found this quick & easy pattern in the winter 2003 issue of Marie-Claire Idées (the French craft magazine)
I bought some so warm and so light icelandic (100%) wool on etsy and set to work right away, replacing the garter stitch of the plain squares by some (US)double stitches, with a crochet size 4.5mm
10 squares so far, I will need 35
I'll keep you posted !!
Enjoy this first week of Fall -- if you're in the northern hemisphere ;) in the southern part it may be... Spring ?

the stuff I'm working on at the moment is for my swap partner so I can't spoil the suprise and post about it here. Instead I found a very interesting article and photo that I thought I would share with you. Here below are a couple of photos of Australian actress Cate Blanchett in none other than a granny square dress! I couldn't believe it when I saw it. I love crochet and granny square blankets but I think turning one into a dress is going a little toooooo far. What do you guys think? You can read the full article here and there are more photos here
The dress is part of Romance was Born Spring 2009 Collection.
I hope you are all well and enjoying the changing of seasons. Here in Germany the leaves are starting to yellow and fall, and there are pumpkins for sale everywhere! Awwww I love Autumn/Fall!

I've just finished crocheting these little hats for the Innocent Smoothie big knit 2009. Yes you heard me right, I said big knit. But I spoke to Innocent and they were more than happy for me to come up with a few patterns that were crochet. You can find the patterns at http://goodtimesithinkso.blogspot.com/2009/09/innocent-smoothies-hat-crochet-patterns.html

Hi, I recently made this purse for my niece, Emily who had just graduated college and was also celebrating her first wedding anniversary. I made 2 modified granny squares (my own designs) with eyelash and worsted weight yarns and lined it with cotton striped fabric that matched perfect. Measures about 12x12x3" with a long strap. I even found a magnetic closure for it! I've only been crocheting for a couple years and wish I had the time to do more projects. She really likes it!

I'll be very happy to work for Britta, and surprise her in the mail during the first week of December.
I made my first potholder last week (not for this swap or I wouldn't show it, of course !) from a shiny cotton (the main color is actually a nice grey not blue-ish, but my camera lens is broken & fussy when it comes to get a decent picture).
I believe cotton makes the most convenient (& safer in the kitchen) potholders, what do you think ?
The pattern is from this book.
Have a lovely week ! It almost feels like Fall here in Western France and I look forward to cozy crocheting evenings !

I have been able to crochet for most of my life but my skills have been relatively low. This year I have challenged myself and made a number of things including tried and trusty granny square rugs! I also made some fingerless gloves and followed a pattern!!!!!
So without further ado, and hopefully no more technical glitches (I lost my first post)....
Now these became this.....
This rug was for a young woman who lost her parents and sibling in the Victorian bushfires. I originally started this rug as a scrap rug and planned to use whatever was laying around, but it became these colour. In fact the photo does not do it justice, it really wasn't this garish. I hated the yellow centre and really regretted it, so I made some roses and sewed them into the centre piece.
And I will leave you with these gloves that I made.
thank you for looking, I would love to hear what you think!

I can't believe I'm ontop of this swap and already sent the partner details. Please email me back to let me know that you have received your partner's details.
Hope everyone is as excited about the swap as I am!
I was worried that the corners might not sit flat so as I was going round the corner (If that makes sense) I did an extra chain between each single crochet. i am not sure if that is the correct way of doing things but it worked and I got it to on all four corners too!
The blanket is for a colleague at work who became a new Dad just before the school term ended for the Summer Holidays. I go back to work tomorrow and shall take in with me. I am really pleased with my first attempt, I used all of the blue wool, so I did not add to my stash and I have been using some of the white to practice other stitches. I have moved onto another project but it is a WIP at the moment so I shall say no more for now.
I'm new here but this blog sure seems a good place to be. Everyone seems so crochet-motivated which is I guess why we are all here.
I've just finished this new crochet cloche hat today which is my own design. I will publish the pattern for this on my blog later in the week. http://goodtimesithinkso.blogspot.com/ All of my patterns to date are freely available for personal use. I love designing and creating things but don't exactly relish the documenting aspect.
I've also crocheted two different daisies to put on the hat but now I can't decide which one looks best. Perhaps some of you could let me have your opinions ?
I apologise for the poor quality of photos but it isn't exactly sunny in Scotland today in fact it's overcast and very dull. I hate phtographing with flash.
